Beskrivelse: Seen i a mix of mangrove and costal forest.
This is supposed to be ssp. convexus because of the almost all-white undertail. The Hornbills were almost gone from Singapore - now a mix of birds from north of the strait and brids from a local breeding project forms a slowly groving population (50-100 individuals?).. this bird had no ring as most of the breeding project birds have. Pasir Ris is very close to Malaysia where a more robust population is present.
Titel: Red junglefowl; Gallus gallus ssp. spadiceus; incl pull
Beskrivelse: The Red Junglefowl is not common in Singapore - but is known to breed at Pulau Ubin - very close to Pasir Ris. Lokal birders said 'scarce' to me. In Singapore there is also for many species a question of inter- or intra-breeding. Might be relevant here - but at the specific place of observation humans and their domestic 'fowls' were as far away as possible in crowded Singapore. Note the (at least) 3 very 'new chickens' (I did se 4 but can only find 3 on the 'rather bad shots :-))
