The Fischer's Lovebirds of Nice have been ticked by many on the WP list. Fischer's Lovebird should have a red forehead, orange-red cheeks ant throat and yellowish breast. The crown and nape should be dull greenish. Interestingly though, the lovebirds in this photograph have dark grey or blackish faces. This can only be interpreted as signs of hybridization probably with A. personatus, or possibly with A. nigrigenis, which corresponds with the captive origin of the birds. A population in Hurghada, Egypt is of hybrid origin too. One might argue that a Google image search reveals similar Fischer's Lovebirds from Africa, which is entirely possible because Lovebirds also hybridize there, especially in feral populations. This leaves the question: Are there any true populations of Fischer's Lovebird in the WP? Simon Waagner

Hi guys: the French avifaunistic commitee is currently reviewing the status of this population, but we have struggled so far to find good info on the phenotypic variation in wild fischeri. We would thus be grateful for sources of such info. Simon, where does your info on phenotype of wild fischeri come from? Paris collections have a very small number of specimens...
