To see the Houbara Bustard was by far the greatest thrill while birdspotting on lanzarote. I stopped the car at a waterstation 1 km outside Tiagua on the way to Soo, and bumbed into to this fine creature just a few 100 meters into the plains. It was aware of me all the time, but kept on comming closer, and did eventially expose itself fully from behind the scrubs.
Here it was making a funny gesture bending its neck backwards and with a strange barking sound throwing its head forward. I understood that it was telling me to leave, and the bird was following me 150 meters behind all the way to the road to make sure i disappeared.
