This is a Curlew. The rather clean white underwing differs from the usually densily barred (especially in axillaries) of Whimbrel, there is a yellowish-brown tinge to the breast and flanks (less yellow/more brown in Whimbrel) and the toes seems to project slightly beyond tha tail-tip. Also, the dark loral streak, although present, is weaker than in most Whimbrels.
the only ssp. of Whimbrel with such a whitish underwing is the seemingly rare and little known ssp. alboaxillaris from C Asia, which winters in E Africa.
