Beskrivelse: Copenhagen birder Steffen Nielsen was on a family visit on the Danish island Bornholm in the Baltic Sea in the beginning of October 2000. Friday, October 6., he found a grey shrike in the afternoon just south of Hasle Havn (Hasle Harbor) on the west coast of Bornholm. He alerted other birders, that he thought he had found Denmark's 4th Steppe Grey Shrike. Next day at least 20 birders made the long trip to Bornholm from Sjælland and even Fyn to twitch the Steppe Eagle Aquila nipalensis which had been present on the SE part of the island since September 25. In the morning several birders tried to relocate the shrike at Hasle Havn but failed. However when they finally found the Steppe Eagle in the early afternoon they went back to Hasle Havn and rediscovered the shrike at 14:41 hours. Finally the bird was identified as a Steppe Grey Shrike. Next day the bird was not found despite extensive searching but Tuesday, October 10, the bird was rediscovered and remained near Hasle Havn until October 14. Notice the large white patch on the base of the primaries and the white edges on the greater coverts.
