Really nice pic Richard; interesting also to read - in the latest issue of British Birds - about the huge influx in 2010/11 (concerning birds of probable Greenland origin) in Britain and Ireland.
The below comment is just my lamenting the fact that the Danish name has been changed into meaningless baby-language in a odd attempt to simplify (or rather kill off) even well established bird-names.
We'll probably end up by grunting: "Prut" when we see a Branta Bernicla.
An ever on-going search for the lowest possible denominator? It certainly seems so!
I tålmodig venten.......Manchurernattergal...hrrmpf!
Hej Tim,
Mvh.
Peter

Beskrivelse: Yet another fabulous day on Corvo! Eric Didner found a Prairie Warbler in the legendary Lighthouse Valley - the 1st record for WP! Within 10 minutes a Yellow-rumped Warbler and Yellow Warbler was also seen feeding in the same area as the Prairie Warbler were. Yet another Yellow-rumped Warbler was later found above the village.
Bäst åldersbestämd i handen fårstås.
Fantastiskt fynd samt bra bild av Jens!

Beskrivelse: Found by Eric Didner in the Juniper Field near the bottom of the Lighthouse Valley. This 1st winter male was accompanied by a 1st winter female American Yellow Warbler and an 1st winter male Myrtle Warbler !!!!!
Beskrivelse: Seen together with the Prairie Warbler and the Yellow Warbler. Another Yellow-rumped Warbler was found later the same day in the hills above the village.
Beskrivelse: Hell yeah!!! What a day at Corvo! A Golden-winged Warbler found at the Lighthouse valley :-) The 2nd record for WP and the 1st record for the Azores. After seeing it really well for a few seconds only a few managed extremely poor flight views for the next 4 hours with heavy rain and strong winds… So people had almost given up and started asking questions like “did you really see the yellow on the wings…?” when Josh Jones finally relocated the bird about 400m from where it had first been seen - now showing extremely well! But this was not the only good bird seen in the valley today. Besides the Golden-winged Warbler a Black-and-white Warbler was found by Pierre-Andre Crochet and seen well several times. A Red-eyed Vireo and 2-3 American Cliff Swallows were seen as well.
Mvh Sebastian
Beskrivelse: Bird finding by the owner of netfugl !!!
Jens Søgaard Hansen find it and Josh Jones refound it for the pleasure of the whole crew. A real dream bird becoming a reality.
Beskrivelse: Bird firstly seen along the middle road and refound in Lighthouse Valley. The Hawk was perched on a dead tree in a juniper field, overlooking the fields over the sea and then took off and disappeared over the caldera.
